Anthony Tarke may not come from one of the sexier universities in the NCAA, but that doesn’t stop the NBA’s intrigue. Tarke, an HBCU representative, got plenty of accolades at Coppin State University.

One of Tarke’s most memorable performances came in an unfortunate 81–71 loss to Duke, where he scored a game-high of 22 points.

His strong performances helped him take home the MEAC Defensive and overall Player of the Year awards.

Fresh off of a session with the Los Angeles Lakers, the versatile wing took some time to speak with me about his NBA journey ahead.

Anthony, thanks again for speaking with me. Let’s do some quick hitters:

CW: What’s been the most challenging thing in workouts?

AT: I wouldn’t say things are too challenging, but the travel is a bit tough.

CW: When did you realize you would have a shot at being in the NBA?

AT: I always believed I’d be in the NBA but it started to become a reality once I played for Coppin State.

CW: What can a team look forward to by picking you?

AT: I have a high IQ on both sides of the ball and I want to win.

CW: Lastly, how does it feel to represent an HBCU during this NBA Draft process?

AT: It’s a blessing! I understand the rarity of my situation, and all the people I have supporting me and the people I’m representing — and with God with me, I won’t fail.

You can look forward to seeing Anthony land with a team on Thursday night. We wish him the best of luck!
