WandaVision: We’ve Only Just Begun
WandaVision far exceeded any expectations I could ever have. It’s use of imagination and illustration of grief was fantastic. To top that, they sprinkled in menacing villains to ice the Marvel cake. All of this excitement is just the beginning for what’s to come.
Let’s Get Dark!
All signs point to the dark portion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Doctor Strange 2: The Multiverse of Madness will continue where WandaVision concluded. From there, we enter into the world of witches and monsters. Demons and devils are still up in the air, but definitely in the detail. So while we didn’t get Mephisto or Nightmare, there was enough nods to anticipate any of the two going forward. And YES — even the China censorship can be navigated to use these characters.
“I’m Putting Together A Team…”
The Midnight Sons are a team comprised of Dr. Strange, Blade, Moon Knight, and Jennifer Kale to name a few. They are a unit of sorcerers and vigilantes that are directly tied to the Darkhold. At the end of WandaVision, we see her brushing up on the spells of the Darkhold or the “book of sins”. Both Blade and Moon Knight are already cast — Mahershala Ali and Oscar Isaac. Both will get significant screen time, which opens the doors for team-ups! We all know Marvel loves a good team (Bucky & Falcon!). As we venture into the multiverse, allies are surely going to be needed for the many adversaries to come.
The Mutants & The Universe
The much maligned theory of Wanda creating mutants is dead. But what we can tell, is that it appears they have always been around. Wanda’s departure from Westview was met with many stares of fear. That sounds eerily familiar, doesn’t it? Like mutants, Wanda is someone with an incredible level of power that can conquer an everyday citizen. I can’t blame the town that Wanda took over, even when considering her intentions. Like our favorite Witch, the underlying mutations are set to awaken from their dormancy.
Will this be a result of the multiverse hopping?
Will Wanda, a Nexus being, find her own kind for protection?
Will everyone have positive intent?
The possibilities are endless.
All I know is that Wanda’s emergence as the top dog in the MCU gives our imaginations a marathon to run. As the Ancient One says, “This universe is only one of an infinite number.”
